How to Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on Easy Convert
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-Factor Authentication adds a second layer of security to your account. Instead of just entering a password to log in, you will also need to provide a second piece of information. This makes it much harder for unauthorized users to access your account, even if they have your password.
How to Enable Authenticator App (TOTP) MFA
Using an authenticator app is a highly secure way to protect your account. Follow these steps to get started:
- Log in to your Easy Convert account and go to your Profile page.
- In the "Security" card, find the "Authenticator App (TOTP)" option and click the Manage button.
- A modal will appear. Open your preferred authenticator app (like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator) and scan the QR code shown.
- After scanning, your authenticator app will provide a 6-digit code. Enter this code into the verification field in the modal and click Verify and Enable.
- Your recovery codes will be displayed. Save these codes in a safe place! They can be used to access your account if you lose your device.
How to Enable Email MFA
If you prefer, you can receive a one-time code via email to secure your account.
- On your Profile page, click the Manage button for "Email MFA".
- A confirmation modal will appear. Click the Enable Email MFA button.
- That's it! The next time you log in, we will send a code to your registered email address to verify your identity.
The Importance of Recovery Codes
When you enable Authenticator App MFA, you are given a set of recovery codes. It is crucial to store these in a secure location, separate from your primary device. If you lose access to your authenticator app, these codes are the only way to regain access to your account.
